The Inq-ITS Team Presents at NJSC, Princeton NJ

Kaitlyn Cuff

The Inq-ITS team was excited to present at the annual New Jersey Science Convention (NJSC), highlighting how cutting-edge AI technology is transforming science education.

Here's a look back at our sessions:

Presentation 1, October 15th, 2024: Using AI to Support Learning of Science for Spanish-Speaking Students

In this session, Dr. Gobert demonstrated how our AI-driven tools are tailored to meet the needs of Spanish-speaking students’ learning of the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS). She showcased the effectiveness of these supports by sharing data on how students successfully learned the practices and transferred their knowledge to new science topics. Attendees left with actionable insights into how AI can bridge language barriers and promote equity in STEM education.

Presentation 2, October 16th, 2024: Using AI to Engage Students & Empower Teachers

This presentation by Dr. Gobert highlighted how patented AI technology within Inq-ITS is reshaping classroom experience. We demonstrated how AI provides real-time support to teachers, helping them assess and guide students more effectively. A key highlight was the automated scoring for all practices, including the autoscoring of NGSS-aligned Claim-Evidence-Reasoning (C-E-R) statements, which provides teachers fine-grained assessment data on students’ practices, information on how they are improving at these practices, as well as identify those who can “do” science but not write about it (some ELLs fall into this category) and those who are simply parroting what they have read or heard but are not skilled at the practices of “doing” science.
